Yay - another idiot to add to the collection! We'll call him Fool.

I started another character as Ritualist 2 days ago. Yesterday, I found my way to Zen Daijun and tried to find a group. Eventually I got into a group with Fool. Fool Collected more people and we left. As we got into the game, someone said "We haven't got a monk" and 2 people left. The remaining four decided to go on, although I hadn't told them I was a healing Ritualist, I healed as best I could...

Needless to say, we got TOTALLY pwnd. So, we go back to the outpost, collect another group, surprise surprise, no monks! We try again - get pwnd! I get bored and go off to do one of my favourites - Quimang's Last Stand. After I've done that I go back to Zen Daijun and Fool is still there. He invited me straight away, along with a warrior, and four rangers. Someone says "you need a healer". Fool replies with "What's a healer". I replied "A monk, you need a monk", to which Fool replied "why?" - D'OH!

I think Fool was a little new to the game and we eventually had him ditch two party members and take on two monks. So in total, 3 Rangers, 2 Monks and 1 (Healing) Ritualist... To my surprise, we actually finished the game with Masters! Even though Fool did everything in his power to die!!

I felt that I was the only one healing, since one Monk kept going AFK and the other kept running into packs of Afflicted Warriors! But that's another story!

There are many untraditional players out there.

I once revisited Nolani and was directly invited to a party. Me (N/Mo lvl 20) and R, El and Mo/N, all others round lvl 12. I was not going to spoil the fun for the others so I reskilled as healer and battery, without any offensive skills, not to make the mission too easy. But I did not tell them this.
...and good was that. The monk soon turned out be......minion master(!). Since he did not have soul reaping he went dry for energy all time so I ended up heal the party as well the minions, while also keeping his energy up. Altogther an unexpected challenging mission, we did get mission+bonus, though.

I have also seen a tanking sword/shield wielding Me/E at Dunes, without (IW). My monk friend told me afterwards that she took loads of damage. One of the very few bad mesmers I have played with.

I recently went out with an Me/W who didn't use IW. He acted as one of the tanks in the group and did pretty darn good. I was also an Me. Despite playing the game for months, it was the first time my Me had ever grouped with another Me. Given his play style, we didn't step on each other's toes and our group succeeded at the mission (Defend Droknars).

I admire people that use unconventional builds, as long as their builds seem to work. They may not be the most efficient ones, but I rate those creative working builds much higher than the standard well tested carbon copy builds. I guess the ME/E I met also could have worked, if she had used the right skills, but she didn't. My monk friend monitored her closely since she had to have constant healing/protection.

If possibly I always take one or two mesmer into the party. Things just go so much smoother then! Most mesmers are very solid players, in my experience. Since mesmers biggest strength is to deal with single targets, I guess many avoid them in the present AoE dominated environment. But having a mesmer or two using echoed shatter hex on the Chaos Plains is a really impressive sight!

When I play the healer, I learned to hate mesmers who tank. People should play the way they like, but also try to live up their profession. A mesmer who isn't able to deal with a high level caster is next to useless.
Nothing sux more than when you are fighting a high level caster boss, and the only mesmer in your team is fighting tanks

If the 7 other people on your team cant handle a caster boss then you have a problem anyways.

come to think of it, I rarely see any Mesmers in my groups because few people play them, exception being guildies I party with so I dont see why not having a mesmer to take down a caster is a problem, other classes can take them down just fine too

I was clearing UW with the guild and some friends of the guild, and ended up with 3 mesmers. Isil and Luke were alright, but we had this one guy called Cliff - He kept running in before me!

I don't know how many of you have tried to tank mindblades, but its nay easy. And it's certaintly not easy when theres a mesmer in front of you ¬_¬

I recently resurrected my ele and until then, I forgot how bad lots of eles were because I usually just didn't pay attention.

Trying Naphui Quarter once yesterday, there were 3 eles in the group. We were all "supposedly" nukers. One was using lightning orb over and over and then firestorm and the other was an E/R spamming flare and comfort animal. The group I finally found today had one other fire ele in it, the group was excited that there were two nukers because ZOMG DAMAGE, or something. The other ele was using bed of coals, breath of fire, tenai's heat and firestorm. I didn't say anything for awhile, but after the tanks had two really nice aggros that grouped the enemies into one nice, neat little meteor showerable area, and I got the cast off... the other ele casts firestorm over it and makes them run out of it. Their response was "I'm a nuker, this is my job." It ignored me until one of the tanks asked it to stop because they were really doing a good job of holding aggro, and then the ele would use bed of coals and screw it all up.

It finally threw a temper tantrum and stopped doing anything at all. Things went better from there on.

Tanking mesmers are sometimes necessary!
We once had some disconnects during the Chaos Plains and ended up with 2 Mo, N (defensive support), 2 Mes (1 interrupt + 1 shatter hex). Healing was not an issue, but our damage output were pretty thin. We changed to one tanking and hex shattering damage dealer with the rest of us as wanding support group. Went pretty well, as long as there were lots of hexes. We cleared rest of Chaos Plains and all of Bone Pits, but did not bother for the spawning pools. Very funny trip!

I hate idiot players too and tend to get a bit annoyed with them but i discovered when my mum got the game that these ppl could be just like her. My mum was a console player and hadn't used a PC for many years. She had never played online b4 and found it very difficult to understand wat was going on. She has had the game for 6 months now and plays everyday but she still cant type and play at the same time and when she does type something it takes her ages cause she only uses one finger so ppl think she is ignoring them. So I find myself 2nd guessing myself b4 i shout 'NOOB' at ppl now. U never know it could be my mum lol.

I've gone through many missions where I've had to put up 400% more effort than needed (as a monk) to finish them..

I have a shirt with that written on it, and it is definitely my favorite one to play Guild Wars in. Keeps things in perspective.

I don't have a problem with people that don't know what they're doing. Hopefully, you can tell them what they should be doing and they'll listen. What I don't like, however, are the people who have no clue what they're doing, but seem to think that they are godlike and beyond criticism. Giving them a helpful tip seems to crush their fragile ego and send them into a fit of internet rage. I'm not the only one in the game that doesn't want rangers and warriors using skills like firestorm, so please don't freak out when I try to explain to you a better use of your skills/attributes. Honestly, it's just a game. Some people can spend a week playing the game and be better than someone who has played 24/7 since it came out. If someone offers you advice, don't get mad, maybe they really do know something that you might not And don't use firestorm on a warrior and no mo/e nukers, or mo/n minion masters, or e/w tanks, etc etc etc.

When I'm monking, I hate any casters who tank unless they built for it. Seriously, this mesmer I went out with was out-tanking the tank. But yeah, you have to know what you're doing. Once, I took pity on a mesmer who'd been spamming LFG for ten minutes, and invited her to do Riverside Province with my ranger and henchies. I couldn't believe my eyes--one of the funniest things I've ever seen. This mesmer aggroed everything, and it was hysterical to see the perfectly coiffed do in the middle of a rabid pack of white mantle. Thank god my secondary was monk--I had to rez her ass so many times. When we were done, she said that we would have had an easier time of it if we'd gone with real people instead of henchies. I told her, no, I usually hench this mission and bonus, but then I usually don't have a tanking mesmer along!
